What are the types of VFX? How does it help in filmmaking?

In the creation of artificial imagery, visual effects have a lot of promise. Anything that cannot be shot with a raw camera lens must be altered with the aid of visual effects. You might be surprised to learn that they all have a certain level of visual effects in the film or TV show you just watched. But have you ever thought about how visual effects are used in movies? Most of it may be learned in India through vfx design courses.

In the industry, there are three major types of VFX or artificial imagery.

1. CGI

When artists employ CGI VFX to create something that doesn't exist, such as an extraterrestrial, dragon, or fire monster, it stands out more. CGI (computer-generated imagery) is a term used to describe digitally-generated visual effects in movies and television. These computer graphics can be 2D or 3D, but when it comes to 3D visual effects, CGI is usually used. 3D modeling—creating a 3D picture of an object, surface, or living organism—is the most talked-about method in CGI.

Visual effects can also be subtle; for example, VFX designers can employ VFX to fill a sports stadium with shouting fans, or to make an elderly performer look younger.

2. Compositing

Composing is the process by which VFX artists combine visual elements from various sources to make them appear to be in the same location. This visual effect (VFX) technique involves shooting with a green or blue screen, which is then replaced by composers using post-production composing tools. Matte graphics of scenery or sets combined with live-action videos were an early method of achieving this result.

3. Motion Capture

Motion capture, also known as "mocap," is the process of digitally capturing and transferring a performer's gestures to a computer-generated 3D image. It is sometimes referred to as "digital effects" when the method includes capturing the performer's face movements.

A common type of motion capture is putting the actor in a motion-capture suit with unique markings that the camera can detect). Visual effects software is used to create a 3D model from the imagery captured by the cameras.
